First Table is a restaurant discovery platform that incentivises diners to book tables at restaurants during off-peak hours. First Table partnered with Birmingham based publishing company I Choose Birmingham to curate a series of videos, to raise awareness of the First Table platform. The videos featured independent restaurants and were distributed via I Choose Birmingham’s social channels and featured in their newsletter.
Orion were subcontracted by I Choose Birmingham to; produce, film and edit three unique social assets to promote the First Table product. Working with the team at I Choose Birmingham we identified three independent restaurants in very different areas around the city of Birmingham.
Services Provided
Production: In collaboration with I Choose Birmingham, we worked closely with restaurant owners and head chefs to select the best dishes they had to showcase. We were looking for colour, texture and scroll-stopping visuals. We also carefully scheduled filming to minimise disruption to service and ensure an uninterrupted dining experience for guests.
Filming: Since the videos were designed for Instagram, we opted for vertical filming early in the planning process. To maintain authenticity, we filmed each segment in a single take, capturing live reactions and emphasising textures to create a more immersive experience.
Editing: The First Table project placed the spotlight on the food, making it the focal point of the content. Our editing approach was intentionally minimal, with a stripped-back aesthetic, allowing a Birmingham-accented narrative voice-over to drive the storytelling and reinforce the project’s authentic feel.
